Renaissance Bouquet

$200.00

I am enamored with Italian decorative papers, with their intricate designs and rich colors.  For me, they evoke the Renaissance and the flourishing of the arts in Florence under the Medicis. The painted ceilings of the Uffizi Gallery would make beautiful paper!  I used quite a few especially beautiful Italian papers in this piece.  I’ve also always admired the Twelve Months of Flowers set of prints published in 1730 by Robert Furber, a London nurseryman.  Furber commissioned the hand-colored prints to advertise the seeds and plants for sale at his Kensington nursery.  His March print inspired this collage.  The resulting combination of Italian and English aesthetics across several centuries makes for a lush bouquet.

Each print is part of a limited edition of 50 and is lightly embellished with gold pen by the artist. Prints are signed and numbered by the artist.
Available in 11 in. x 14 in. (image size: 9.5 in. x 12.5 in., with a .75 in. margin all around).
