Sunflowers
What is it about Van Gogh’s iconic sunflower paintings that have inspired so many artists? Is it the intensity of the bold but limited color palette? The focus on just one type of flower? The three-dimensional thick brushstrokes? After visiting his museum in Amsterdam, I decided to try my hand at sunflowers. It was a challenge to limit myself to one type of flower, although I did manage to work in several varieties! Of all the Van Gogh Sunflower paintings, I especially like the ones he did in Arles with the aquamarine backgrounds and so followed his lead. I like how the blue-green color nicely cools the warm yellows.
Each print is part of a limited edition of 100.
Available in 14 in. x 17 in. (image size: 12 in. x 15 in., with a 1 in. margin all around).
